In this video, I show how you can set your Surface Pro 3 to play music in Google Chrome even when you put the Surface to sleep!
How it works:
Enable exclusive audio mode in Chrome to let it continue playing music while your Surface is in connected standby! To do this, type " -enable-exclusive-audio" in Chrome's shortcut, per the instructions in my video.
If you just want something easy, feel free to download these files I created that will help you launch Google Chrome in "sleep music mode" and "normal" mode! Let me know if they are not working!

Special thanks goes to /u/SHVR of Reddit for sharing this valuable tip!
Note: I think this only works on devices that support connected standby, such as the Surface Pro 3. I'm not sure that it will work on the SP1 or SP2. Also, I've not yet figured out how to enable exclusive audio in Internet Explorer, so this won't work on the Surface RT or 2. Let me know if you figure it out!
As always, thanks for watching.
